FARMINGTON – Commissioners didn’t go outside the courthouse when hiring new full-time clerical help for the Detention Center.

Victoria Parker of Kingfield, who currently holds a part-time clerical job at the courthouse offices was the recommended choice by Detention Center Manager Doug Blauvelt.

Twenty-five applicants applied for the full-time clerical position at the center. Parker is “very experienced, already has the necessary security clearance and is top notch for the job,” Blauvelt told commissioners.

Although they quipped that next time Blauvelt needs to fill a position at the center, maybe he should look elsewhere besides the courthouse, commissioners approved the hire 3-0. Parker starts at $13.51 an hour.

Commissioners will be looking to hire a replacement for Parker.

In other employee-changing news, the county’s treasurer of the last four years, Mary Frank of Farmington, was honored with a plaque for her service by commissioners on Tuesday, as she completes her term. Frank decided not to run again and said afterward she is looking forward to having more time for other projects. Her last day is Dec. 30.

“This is a thank you for the time we have shared while I served as Franklin County treasurer,” Frank said in a letter to county commissioners and staff. She said she appreciated those she worked with and “learned a great deal about county government. Friendships have strengthened and new ones made.”

Newly-elected treasurer, Pam Prodan of Wilton, was at her side during the meeting taking notes. She officially starts at the beginning of the new year.
