FARMINGTON – County commissioners recognized one of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department’s top deputies Tuesday, with Deputy Kevin Hartley receiving the Deputy of the Quarter and Deputy of the Year award.
Hartley, who has been with the department for approximately 18 months following 10 years of experience with a municipal department, had previously been awarded Deputy of the Quarter in the second quarter of 2014. Having been named the Deputy of the Year for 2014, Hartley received a plaque and a pin from Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Nichols and Lt. David Rackliffe both praised Hartley’s work with FCSD, with Rackliffe saying he was “continuously active” and a “huge asset” for the department. Specifically, Rackliffe said, Hartley had employed his investigative skills to tackle a number of difficult cases that would typically have been assigned to detectives.
“He has shown both his leadership and investigative skills and a willingness to use those skills for the advancement of this agency and for the benefit of the community,” Rackliffe said.
After being presented with a certificate for being named Deputy of the Quarter, and a plaque and pin for being named Deputy of the Year, Hartley was congratulated by the commissioners.
