Emergency crews respond to spate of crashes

WILTON – Emergency personnel responded to multiple crashes over the last few days.

On Sunday morning five people were transported to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 133/Livermore Falls Road and McCrillis Corner Road in Wilton.

According to Wilton Officer Efra Becerra, a 2008 Chevrolet sedan was traveling north when it collided with a 2010 Toyota pick-up truck crossing the intersection eastbound at McCrillis Corner. The two vehicles were then propelled into a 2000 Honda that had stopped at the McCrillis Corner Road intersection facing a westerly direction.

Phil Roy, 69, of Jay, who was driving the Chevrolet and his passenger Paulette Roy, 68, of Jay, were both transported by NorthStar ambulance services to Franklin Memorial Hospital. Also transported to the hospital were Dakota Dunham, 25, of Farmington, who was identified by police as the pick-up’s driver and his two passengers, Angeleya Corley, 7, and Dakota-Roy Dunham, 1.

The driver of the third vehicle in the collision, Gwendolyn Ward, 45, of Wilton and her passenger Dillian Hatch, 24, weren’t reportedly injured.

In Industry at 1:12 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Doucette and Sgt. Kevin Hartley responded to a single vehicle accident on the West Mills Road. According to Sheriff Scott Nichols, a driver attempted to pass another vehicle then lost control on the snow-covered road. No injuries were reported.

About a half hour later at 1:40 p.m. in Farmington, a passenger riding in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala received minor injuries after the sedan slid off the road, into a ditch then rolled over onto its side. The crash occurred at the intersection of Town Farm Road and Route 4.

According to Farmington Officer Ryan Rosie, the driver, Clayton Liles, 29, of Ovis, N.Y., attempted to make a right turn from Route 4 onto the Town Farm Road when his car slid into the ditch and rolled over. Ryan said the driver was going too fast for the conditions of the road, which were snow-covered at the time. Passenger in the car, Kristy Fenning received minor injuries.

In New Sharon at 4:25 p.m., Doucette, Hartley and Deputy Sandy Burke responded to a pick-up truck and tractor trailer collision on Routes 2/27 that occurred near Sandy River Farm Supply store at the bridge.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the pick-up truck, Fred Coro, 62, of Wilton, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and violating conditions of release.

Traffic on Route 2 was shut down for an hour and a half. No injuries were reported, Nichols said.
