FARMINGTON – There was plenty of color on the University of Maine at Farmington campus Saturday for the first Tint Sprint 5k walk/run.

UMF’s Health Club sponsored the event that began at the Fitness and Recreation Center on Quebec Street with a mission “to inspire campus and community members to enjoy the fun of exercise and healthy outdoor activities,” according to organizers.

Participants started the event in white T-shirts, but as they passed each kilometer’s “color zone,” volunteers doused the runners with a safe and natural-colored powder. Runners at the event were coated with much color by the event’s end.

The course ran through residential areas of town near the campus including High Street, Maple Avenue and Granite Heights and Middle Street before returning to the center. The event was a fund raiser for the Health Club’s activities.
