FARMINGTON – A local man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman outside Walmart.

Andrew Deering, 31 of Jay, was arrested on charges of aggravated reckless conduct, a Class B felony; terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony; and misdemeanor unlawful possession of a scheduled drug. The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred outside the Walmart on the Wilton Road on Dec. 16.

According to Farmington Police Department Deputy Chief Shane Cote, FPD responded to the Walmart parking lot at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. A woman was leaving the store with her purchases when she crossed in front of a vehicle occupied by Deering. It is alleged that Deering then pointed a pistol at the woman, who told police she didn’t know why, unless it related to the speed at which she crossed the lot.

Cote said that Deering was intoxicated and belligerent. A firearm was recovered from the scene.

FPD Officer Ryan Rosie arrested Deering on charges of terrorizing and aggravated reckless conduct. The misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession stems from pills that were discovered on Deering’s person when he arrived at Franklin County Detention Center.

  1. Walmart attracts a high percentage of crazies year round but I guess Christmas shopping this year is really putting them over the edge. Not right but somewhat understandable if you’ve been to a Walmart in the last few days.

  2. Don’t they search people they put in police cars before they get them to the jail? Only at Walmart

  3. WOW! As a native of Maine and now a prosecuting attorney in New York City, I deal with criminals on a daily basis. It amazes (and saddens) me to read about these criminals (in Franklin County) that get away with these crimes with minimal bail fees and jail time.

  4. I find this so bone chilling….mentally” impaired”…with a gun, in a crowded parking lot…just pointing it at some woman as she passed in front of his vehicle. Did he do this to others, who may have missed him pointing the gun as they passed in front of him, too??? When I go to his facebook page…more chills… RED FLAGS, RED FLAGS! I cannot wait to see how the court handles this one. Don’t let him out on bail please!!!

  5. Thanks Kee, I wish all comments by me and others could be printed without censorship, readership and the entertainment provided would be through the roof! Some people should watch a few episodes of South Park that highlight ‘PC Principal’ and they would realize how ridiculous political correctness has gotten.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

  6. Capt. Planet…nailed it again. PC is now “over the top”.
I can’t wait to see how the gal from the Penobscot Tribe makes out with her
    court case against Skowhegan HS.

  7. @Home for the holidays — You’re absolutely correct. The prosecutors in Franklin County could use some good help with remembering what it means to actually prosecute a case. A deal = a win for them and it shouldn’t be that way. You should come back!

  8. Sexual assaults and domestic violence in Franklin County? The Police do not like to investigate, they prefer property crimes. Perhaps the paperwork or emotional factors are too difficult. The district attorney does not like to prosecute these crimes. Juries do not like rule against these crimes. The budget is tight. Victim blaming is alive and well in Franklin County. The majority of folks do not seem to object to these crimes……often against women.

  9. Bring back Judge Benoit.
Jan 11, 1987 · Judge John W. Benoit, whose sentences are highly popular among residents of Farmington

  10. God forbid, you make a comment about Judge that use to handle things. Why don’t we blame the lawyers we pay for that always cop a plea deal, never did understand how they ever slept at night.

The truth you probably won’t print this because of the truth.
