FARMINGTON – A Farmington man remains hospitalized today after the vehicle he was driving went off the road, rolled over and hit a few trees Thursday night.

Farmington police Officer Bill Tanner said Samuel Jones, 19, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the 2001 Toyota pickup he was driving when it crashed off New Vineyard Road/Route 27. He added alcohol and speed are suspected causes of the crash.

Jones was driving north towards New Vineyard when his vehicle went off the road, rolled over and crashed near a storage unit facility not far from Fairbanks Road. A neighbor heard the crash and called for help at 8:15 p.m. Thursday night.

Jones suffered a concussion and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Tanner said he expects Jones to be released from the hospital today or tomorrow. The investigation continues and charged may be pending, Tanner said. The pick-up truck was considered a total loss.

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies and Farmington Fire Rescue personnel assisted at the scene.
