INDUSTRY – A couple’s single story home was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning. A routine investigation into the cause of the fire could not be determined by the state’s Fire Marshal’s Office due to the extent of the damage, said Industry Deputy Fire Chief Wes Witherly.
Fire crews from eight towns responded to the report by a passerby at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday of a structure fire on Taylor Michael Lane, off Route 43, also known as Industry Road, near the Industry/Starks town line.
When fire fighters arrived the home of Anthony and Melissa Howard was “fully engulfed” in flames.
Industry Road was closed to traffic as crews shuttled water from Clearwater Lake at Allen’s Mill. With Industry, the mutual aid towns of Farmington, New Sharon, Temple, New Vineyard, Starks, Anson and Madison responded.
The two-bedroom, single story home was insured and as is routine, a fire marshal investor was called to the scene but could not determine the cause.
“The home was completely destroyed,” Witherly said. The Red Cross was called to aid the couple. NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel assisted at the scene. Industry Road was reopened by 10:30 a.m. Crews left by 11:15 a.m.
