FARMINGTON FALLS – Firefighters from five towns responded to an address on Philbrick Road this morning, after a chimney fire spread into the walls of a family of four.

Farmington Fire Rescue responded after dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call regarding a chimney fire in a two-story residence located at 106 Philbrick Road in Farmington Falls. Upon arriving shortly after 10:30 a.m., firefighters discovered that the fire had spread from the home’s chimney into the walls.

A call for mutual aid brought Chesterville, New Sharon, Wilton and Jay crews to the scene, with firefighters wearing masks and air packs entering the smoke-filled residence with chainsaws and tools to gain access to the fire.

No one was hurt in the blaze, although a NorthStar EMS ambulance did stand by at the fire scene, as is the standard operating procedure at structure fires.

According to Farmington Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Clyde Ross, the blaze resulted in significant smoke damage, as well as structural damage. The residence is occupied by Toby and Melanie Tyler and their two children, both of whom were at school when the fire broke out.

The family did not have insurance, Ross said.
