Updated: Schools and other cancellations

A storm that dropped inches of snow overnight has changed over to sleet and freezing rain.

Franklin County offices will be closing at noon due to the weather.

All WMCA offices in Franklin county are closed today. These include…WMCA Health Services (Family Planning) in Farmington and WMCA WIC , Housing, Community Services, and Administrative offices in East Wilton.

Please note that the Western Maine CA$H Coalition Kick-Off scheduled for 12 – 1 today at Bangor Savings Bank in Farmington has been canceled due to severe weather. Please note that free tax appointments on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings are currently being scheduled by calling 491-3747.

The Jay-Niles Memorial Library in North Jay will be closed today.

All schools are closed in Mt. Blue RSU 9 (Chesterville, Farmington, Industry, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Temple, Vienna, Wilton, Weld), MSAD 58 (Avon, Kingfield, Phillips, Stratton and Strong), RSU 73 (Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls), and RSU 78 (Rangeley) due to a winter weather advisory predicting snow, sleet, freezing rain through today and into tonight.

  4. Eric, that's exactly why I went to this particular story. Wanted to see how "stupid" the school district was for making such a "ridiculous call" and where those "no good teachers" were spending their day.

    Evidently you live down town and have no children. I live about 7 miles from town and would not want my child traveling on a bus today. I work down town and when I traveled home at 4pm and the 2ndary roads were horrible.
