FARMINGTON – Current police officers honored one of their own Wednesday, presenting a shadow box to display a uniform, badges and other pieces of equipment to former Chief Raymond Orr.

Chief Jack Peck got the idea after Orr dropped off part of his old uniform, several badges and a few other items at the police station. Orr was the department’s former chief, retiring in 1979.

Peck had a wooden and glass box constructed to display the items and surprised Orr with a presentation at the Richard Caton III Memorial Police Station.

Orr’s family was in attendance.

I doubt that he or I knew in 1975 that he was starting me out on a 30+ year career.
