JAY – A fourth man has been arrested by Maine State Police in connection with the alleged burglaries of three Franklin County convenience stores earlier this month.

According to MSP Sgt. Peter Michaud, Devon Pease, 22, of Jay, has been charged with three counts of felony burglary, two counts of violating conditions of his release and one count of theft by unauthorized taking. Additional charges from the Jay Police Department may be pending.

Maine State Police and Jay police responded to reported burglaries at three local-area convenience stores in the early morning hours of July 1. Our Village Market in New Vineyard, My Dad’s Place in Jay and Skoolhouse Variety in Weld were all forcibly entered through the front door, with the perpetrators taking alcohol and tobacco products from the latter two establishments.

On receiving information from members of law enforcement and the public after images captured by video surveillance cameras were released, Trooper Andrew Hardy and Trooper Reid Bond interviewed three men in East Dixfield last week. Einer Bonilla, 21, and Duane Bailey, 27; both of Nebraska, and D’Kota Rowe, 20 of East Dixfield, were arrested by Hardy on two counts of felony burglary apiece with additional charges potentially pending. All three men had been living at Rowe’s residence in East Dixfield.

On July 4 at 5:30 p.m., Hardy and Bond interviewed Pease at his Main Street residence in Jay in relation to the investigation into the July 1 burglaries. According to Michaud, Pease confessed to being with Rowe, Bonilla and Bailey when all three burglaries were committed. Hardy arrested Pease and transported him to Franklin County Detention Center.

Pease was involved in a 2013 incident in which he was spotted on the roof of the Dearborn Gym in Farmington by a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the early morning hours of Sept. 3. Pease and another man fled to the roof of the attached Emery Community Arts Center. As campus police attempted to find the men, Pease tried to climb down the north side of the building and fell approximately 40 feet.

He sustained serious injuries, was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland. He would plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts in October 2013 as part of an arranged sentence that would have dismissed the charges in exchange for good behavior.

  1. I’m thinking “good behavior” is now out-the-window…. Good Grief! Some people have a hard time learning from experience.
