RICHMOND – In an undefeated run at the Babe Ruth state softball tournament held in Richmond on July 5 and 6, the Franklin County Stars U12 Softball team came away as State Champions. The Stars, comprised of 11 girls, ages 11-13, have been playing in tournaments across the state since early May.

“The girls were very focused through the whole tournament,” Coach Lisa Dube said. “I never got the sense that they were intimidated by any team.”

Dube is looking forward to that focus this coming weekend at the regional tournament in Rochester, N.H.. The Stars will be competing with other state championship teams, including teams from New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont.

Christopher Guppy, assistant coach said: “This group of girls has remarkable talent and heart, the future of Mt. Blue softball is looking very good. I’m proud to be a part of this team.”
