JAY – Despite the limited amount of snowfall, Spruce Mountain Ski Slope has been open for operation thanks in part to the generous contribution of our local businesses and sponsors.

On Sunday, Jan. 17 Sunday River sponsored a free day of skiing at the ski area with over 85 participants.

Then on Wednesday, Jan. 27, it felt like a spring evening of skiing and families enjoyed all trails open on the mountain. Spruce Mountain Pharmacy and Otis Federal Credit Union sponsored the evening of free skiing, with over 85 participants enjoying the ski conditions.

If you missed these events, there are still more free skiing events scheduled. On Feb. 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ski Depot is sponsoring another free ski, with the return sponsorship of Otis Federal Credit Union. There are several special activities scheduled for the evening.

Spruce Mountain will kick off February vacation with a day of free skiing on Monday, Feb. 15, from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by ReEnergy of Livermore Falls, Franklin Savings Bank, as well as Healthy Community Coalition of greater Franklin County. Highlighted events of the day include: 70 sets of free cross-country rentals from the Maine Winter Sports Center on-site; a “Monday Funday” race as an extension of the weekly alpine races held at Spruce on Sundays in January and February; as well as other activities in the lodge.

Hillside Sports Club has also sponsored these events through a money donation to support snowmaking. Students in grades 3-8 from RSU 73 have and continue to be welcome to stop into Ski Depot before the start of these events for free alpine rentals thanks to the generous contribution of Ski Depot and the Spruce Mountain Afterschool Program of the 21st Century Community Learning Center.

We thank our local sponsors and families that support this mountain. Please join us for these planned events and check out the Spruce Mountain facebook page for more activities planned for February vacation.
