FARMINGTON –  As blizzard conditions continue over most of Maine, the National Weather Service is reporting more than two feet of snow has fallen in southern Maine so far. Snow accumulations in areas of Franklin County reported this morning are between 6 inches in Phillips to 9 inches in Farmington and Jay areas.

High gusts are causing white-out conditions as heavy snow continues to fall though today.

Portland Jetport reported at 8 a.m. 29.3 inches of snow was measured Saturday morning. That accumulation breaks Portland’s snowfall record of 27.5 inches, with a few more inches expected before the storm moves out of Maine.

Other snowfall totals reported include Dixfield at 11 inches, 23.5 inches in Lewiston, 19.5 in Augusta, as of 8 a.m. this morning.

According to NOAA, snow and blowing snow is expected to continue through Saturday afternoon with a possible accumulation of up to 9 inches today. Gusts of up to 36 mph could bring the wind chill factor down to -9.

The good news is gradual clearing is expected tonight with a sunny and relatively warm 30-degree high on Sunday.
