FARMINGTON – A Hermon man is facing numerous charges today, after he allegedly fled from police multiple times Sunday evening.

Kyle Goehringer, 32 of Hermon, has been charged with eluding an officer and violating conditions of his release, both Class C felonies, as well as four misdemeanors: motor vehicle speeding in excess of 30 mph over the speed limit, operating while license is suspended or revoked, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. He also has a warrant out of Penobscot County regarding a charge of violating the conditions of his release.

According to Sheriff Scott Nichols, the incident began at 7 p.m. Sunday evening when Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Andrew Morgan attempted to stop a vehicle on the Farmington Falls Road for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop, Nichols said, and sped off with Morgan in pursuit toward Farmington. FCSO Sgt. Nathan Bean and Farmington Police Department Officers Michael Lyman, Jeff Brann and Sgt. Edward Hastings IV assisted in trying to locate the vehicle.

Lyman spotted the vehicle on High Street and attempted to stop it. Once again the driver is alleged to have sped away, traveling back towards Farmington Falls. Near Hammond Lumber, his vehicle crossed a road block set up by Hastings, running over a set of spike mats which began deflating the vehicle’s tires.

The vehicle ran off the road near a truck fuel pump next to Signworks on the Farmington Falls Road. The driver exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, Nichols said, but was chased by Morgan, Bean and Deputy Brad Scovil. He was caught and arrested.

The unlawful possession charge relates to mushrooms that were reportedly discovered after the arrest.

The driver, Goehringer, had a Penobscot County warrant out for his arrest, Nichols said. The warrant relates to an alleged violation of the conditions of his release in regards to a felony firearm charge.

Goehringer was transported to Franklin County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bail pending a court appearance.
