“Saving the Lady!” After monitoring her behavior and health and being at risk near the highway; Warden Kris Maccabe thought it best to relocate a female moose on RT. 156 out of Wilton.(Jim Knox)
Putting a moose to sleep and having her fall in the right place can be tricky at best. Warden Maccabe had hoped it would fall in the snow but that didn’t happen. She fell in a brook nearby. (Jim Knox)
After rolling the moose over and into a flat boat, things went better. (Jim Knox)
Once the relocation was made they fitted the moose with a GPS/VHF collar and ear tags so Wardens can learn about her movements as well as her fate. The moose was moved to the Weld area. (Jim Knox)
