JAY – The Jay Police Department provided Spruce Mountain Middle School and both the Jay and Livermore elementary schools with anti-bullying promotional material.

The middle school received silicone bracelets with positive messages on them in the theme of anti-bullying. They also were given a complete program for teachers and students to use in anti-bullying education.

Elementary schools received Take a Stand, Lend a Hand theme kits. The kits consist of pencils, bookmarks, stickers and classroom posters with a anti-bullying positive message on them.

The Jay Police Department will also sponsor a anti-bully dance at Spruce Mountain High school later this year.

The funds came from left over money from anti drug programs and funds provided by U.S. Cellular located in Livermore Falls. Police Chief Larry White said it is the hope of his department that the items will help in this program.

“Bullying has no place in our schools or outside of the classroom. Students should be able to go to school without fear of be threatened or bullied in any manner. Bullying is often a major cause factor in violence in schools throughout our country,” he said.
