My sister, Beatrijs Quite, sent me this picture from Utrecht, Netherlands, taken during her drive home from work. Willow trees are cut off to give this unique look and are then called “Knot Willows.” This practice made harvesting the wood easier. The wood would be used to make wooden shoes, among other products.
