WEST FARMINGTON – A “Light It Up” pledge drive is underway at Titcomb Mountain as David Huish prepares to Nordic ski 100 kilometers on Thursday, Feb. 12 in a solo effort to raise money for the Nordic Trail Light Project.

A dedicated supporter of Titcomb Mountain, Huish has a longstanding passion for ultra-distance sports, trail and mountain running, Nordic skiing, and has raced long distances in these sports for years. On Feb. 12 he’ll take to the trails to help fund Titcomb’s newest night-skiing development.

Donations from this event will help fund the Nordic Trail Light Project, providing 2.1 kilometers of lit trails that will serve community skiers, our local youth ski teams, and the ever-growing Nordic learn-to-ski programs for children and adults. With the new lights, organizers hope that cross-country skiing will continue to grow and provide a healthy outlet for the community.

Huish has been training for the fundraiser for some time. To reach 100 kilometers, he’ll ski an 8.38 kilometer loop 12 times. The FAST and Mt. Blue High School Nordic teams will be joining him for some of the laps.

The “Light It Up” fundraiser, sponsored by the Titcomb Ski Club Educational Foundation, can be supported with pledges, by visiting The Titcomb Mountain Lodge or mailing the donation to: Titcomb Ski Club Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 43, Farmington, ME 04938.

All are welcome and encouraged to join in cheering for David as he achieves this ambitious goal!
