WILTON – Despite feet of snow still on the ground throughout most of Franklin County, residents will celebrate a sure sign of spring this weekend with the annual Maine Maple Sunday.

“Business has been fabulous. I think the slow start is actually allotting people more time to get their bearings,” Brandy Ibarguen said.

Brandy and her husband Miguel own Bowley Brook Maple in Weld, and manage the three-year-old sugaring equipment store CDL Maine in Wilton. The store is the first of its kind in the state, offering expert equipment as well as production support and advice from the Ibarguens. The grand opening of the store in 2016 attracted attention from then-Governor Paul LePage and Commissioner Walter Whitcomb of the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, who attended the event.

Bowley Brook Maple will be open this Sunday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with samples and evaporator demonstrations. Signs for the sugarhouse can’t be missed, said Brandy.

Other tappers in Franklin County will be open as well with a variety of events, some lasting throughout the weekend. For more information about Maple Sunday events around the state, click here.
