Emergency personnel were called to an accident at 9:27 p.m. Friday on the Wilton Road.

On arrival, the driver of a Toyota sedan, Sean Griffin, 27, North New Portland, told police another driver had rear-ended his car and then took off. Griffin was able to pull his car into the store’s parking lot “while the other car continued on,” according to Farmington Officer Derek MacDonald’s report.

Area officers were informed of the crash and to be on the look out for an orange Ford F250 pickup truck described as the other vehicle involved.

Soon after, Deputy Andrew Morgan of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, spotted the orange truck on the Fairbanks Road and stopped it in front of Foothills Heights Community Apartments (former Sunny Hill Apartments).

Vean Hotham was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and faces an additional charge of transporting alcohol by a minor after police said they found a 12-pack of Twisted Tea in his truck.

According to MacDonald’s report, Hotham said, “he didn’t stop (at the crash scene) because the guy in front of him was being a d–k.”

Hotham was transported to the Franklin County jail. A court date of Dec. 2 was scheduled. He was released after posting $100 cash bail.

  1. Very poor excuse for not stopping now it will cost him alot more and probably lose his license for a while

  2. This kid needs to learn to see life from multiple angles. Hopefully the justice system will give him a good smack upside the head and he’ll straighten out.

  3. I was a witness to the accident. The car that was rear ended slammed on his brakes because he thought Vean’s headlights were too bright. Before you start making comments about the justice system and how this case should be handled, perhaps you should get the whole story. As far as Vean and his character goes, Vean is an upstanding citizen in his community. He would do anything for anyone and this article paints him to be the opposite. Vean made a terrible decision that he will undoubtably pay for in fines, however a good smack upside the head is not something he needs. As I said this young man is an upstanding citizen, who works hard and brings great strength to his family. Perhaps, you should think twice about commenting on stories and people you know nothing about.
