FARMINGTON – A 48-year-old man was arrested in Massachusetts on a Maine warrant accusing him of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 18.
Farmington Police Department Detective Marc Bowering said following an investigation into allegations that a girl under the age of 18 had been sexually assaulted, Ross Adams was charged with unlawful sexual contact.
Adams, an acquaintance of the victim, Bowering said, had moved to Massachusetts to work when the charge was made. A few weeks ago, Massachusetts law enforcement notified Bowering they had taken Adams into custody.
Following an extradition proceeding in which Maine prosecutors requested Adams return here to face the unlawful sexual contact charge, he was transported across the border on Friday and taken to the Franklin County Detention Center.
As of Monday morning, no bail had been set.
