New officers join Farmington Police Department

The Farmington Police Department welcomes two new officers to its police force this month, filling vacant positions.

Matthew Fernandez, age 25, is originally from Arizona. He is a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, who served actively from July 2010 to July 2015, and is now in the Marine Reserves. Fernandez is married with a young child.

Kevin Lemay, is 26 years old and originally from Lewiston. He graduated on May 12 from Central Maine Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a reserve officer for the Jay Police Department before coming to Farmington full time.

Both officers started on Monday, May 16. They will begin their 10-week field training program and will then attend the 18-week Basic Law Enforcement Program at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

  4. Happy to see 2 more officers in our town. I wonder if they could take the time to send them up on the Adams Circle to see the speeding traffic including four wheelers racing up and down the road.
