On April 8, 2014, police were called to the home at 545 Farmington Falls Road/Route 2 after a family member reported a young  child had come home to find Daniel Villacci, 28, and Tabatha Schoubroek, 30 unconscious. Police later said it was due to a heroin overdose and both were charged. The pair were arrested on Friday after police said they found a meth lab at their home.

NEW SHARON – A couple was arrested Friday afternoon after investigators said they found a methamphetamine lab inside their home. Nearly one year ago, the pair was found unresponsive by a child returning home. Police later said it was due to a heroin overdose by both adults.

On Friday, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s lab team was at the home on Route 2 at 545 Farmington Falls Road to dismantle the lab and gather evidence, according to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the state’s Department of Public Safety.

On the discovery, Daniel Villacci, 28, and Tabatha Schoubroek, 30, were arrested and each charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services was called to assist with the two young children who also live at the house.

A lab set up was discovered at the ranch style home by MDEA investigators and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies, following a tip from the Farmington Police Department.

On April 8, 2014, family members called 911 to report that two unresponsive adults were found by a child returning home. Emergency personnel responded to the residence and the investigation into an alleged overdose began.

Four days later, Villacci was charged with felony furnishing schedule drugs, namely heroin, and felony possession of heroin.

On April 14, 2014, Schoubroek was charged with felony possession of heroin. Investigators said at the time of the arrests that they believed Villacci furnished heroin to Schoubroek on April 8.

Most recently, on Dec. 4, 2014, Villacci and Schoubroek were arrested after a local business claimed that one of its employees had charged more than $6,000 to the company’s credit card without authorization. Schoubroek was charged with felony theft and violating the conditions of her release and Villacci was charged with misdemeanor theft and violating the conditions of his release.

On the latest charges, the couple was transported to the Franklin County Detention Center and are each being held on $50,000 cash bail.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the New Sharon Fire Department assisted with the clean up at the house.

McCausland noted that this is the sixth meth lab discovered in Maine, so far this year. Last Friday, a meth lab was found inside an Ellsworth apartment, and earlier this month, a lab was dismantled inside a house in Bar Harbor.

  1. I have one question. Why on earth were these children placed back in this home?! After finding their parents unresponsive and overdosing oh heroin, they should have been placed with other family members and not allowed to go back. Hopefully these poor kids aren’t already messed up from these horrible experiences.

  2. I’m confused, is this the same crime from 2014 or a new one? The way it is written sounds like it is the same incident but then it also sounds like another incident. If it is a new one they should give those . Kids to someone who would care about them, otherwise these kids are going to practice what they see. Just sayin…..

  3. Yet another example of “The reality of the criminal justice system”.

    Sickening.

    Again…Sleep Well Folks.

  4. wake up people thats the 2nd one in franklin county and i’m sure theres more here . if u see increased traffic at a house and at all hours day and night report it . lets clean up franklin county of the herion dealers and meth labs but the police cant do it without your help.

  5. Hopefully these children will be placed in a safe place this time. It’s so sad and placing them with family members sometimes isn’t best as family often is in denial and will allow these sick individuals to be around them. I say this because I remember when they overdosed and were found by their innocent children the mans sister defended them on this site and said they were good people. Thank God the police were onto this and hopefully they won’t be destroying any more lives.

  6. Any guesses as to how much time they will serve? (I think its never enough, if it were strictly enforced, less would do it)
And here is another flaw in the system. Here is the pattern.
Do a crime, get little time.
Get out of jail and because you have a criminal record not many employers want to hire you, so the state now has to find a place for you to live and you get “benefits” such as food stamps and housing and medical.
All because You made a poor choice.
We (tax payers) will pay for the cleanup.
We will pay for the court cost.
We will pay to house and feed you.
We will pay for you to get methadone treatments because your addiction is so strong that withdrawals are inhumane. ( I would let you suffer)
You will get great medical care while in prison and most likely when you get released we will continue to pay for you.
These people have the same choices I do. They “chose” wrong. I am sick and tired of paying for those that “CHOOSE” the wrong path.

  7. Honestly Its Wrong That The Child Found Whomever Unconsious But Obviously The Child Was Tooken Care Of….I Wouldnt Wish Any Child To Be Tooken From The Parents …It Only Messes With That Child In The Future.
And People Have Meth Labs Going On Because Thats What It COmes Down To …People Cant Get A Job Yes Because Of Poor Actions But Ya Gotta Do What Ya Gotta Do!

  8. Thank you, New Sharon Neighbor!!! You hit the nail right on the head.
Maybe this is time for the “system” to look at these kinds of situation. If
you can’t be a good “boy” or “girl”, you’re arrested, you subject your kids
to this kind of crap, you then become a leper to the welfare system.
    Criminal record – you’re GONE!!!

  9. No way those children should have been allowed to stay in that trailer with them!

  10. My heart breaks for those kids. I hope someone can provide them with the life they deserve.

  11. Well said, Nancy Porter and New Sharon Neighbor! !!

And, “Pathetic”…………. I like to think this is SOMEbody just messing with us. God forbid, you are For Real?? If you are, let me you hope you are “TOOKEN” out of any town I live in!!

  12. To pathetic..
What a bunch of BS you wrote.
There is NEVER a situation where running a meth lab is something “ya gotta do.
You’re pretty pathetic if you believe that.

  13. I totally agree with you New Sharon Neighbor and Nancy Porter. The police do the hard work of busting these scumbags just to have the legal system and lawyers give them a slap in the wrist and send them on their way. Our whole country is going to crap this way. The criminals have more rights then the police/justice system, Kids have more rights then their parents, Students have more power then their teachers, and Illegal and recently legal immigrants have more rights and privileges the people who families originally came here generations ago on the Mayflower or through Ellis Island. And our government lets is all happen. Is complete crap!

Both suspects are from New Sharon.

Now let’s see what “Superior” court will do with this one.

  15. The children are safe with family members. The children will be getting help with this. I love them all very much. It is a very hard time for all of us involved. I hate the drugs but love the addicts. The children will have along hard road ahead of them but family will help them thru it. Drugs are everyway, in everyway town and its going to get a lot worst before it gets better. People need to understand what drugs do to people. This is a huge issue.

  16. I am very thankful to the person you called in the tip. Another huge thanks to Franklin County Sheriff Department and the MDEA. Without their help we might have been going to their funeral.

  17. This is also the same couple charged with fraud from his employer a little while back. I believe it was $6000… just trying to help out his own drug addiction

  18. Here we as a society go again costing us hard earned money to house, feed, give medical and or rehab to these no account so called people. Lock them up let them go through withdrawals without rehab. They might feel the pain they put hard working people through every time we as a society have to absorb these costs/expenses. This is so sickening that children are subjected to these situations. Hope they can get the care and help they need to lead healthy and productive lives.

  19. drove by this home Fri. and by the looks of all the emergency vehicles, this is a great expense to taxpayers. What I don’t understand is when they get out of jail they go to the meth clinic for free meth to help them get off the drugs. I know some are going for up to 3 yrs (for treatment), I would think a 3 or 6 month treatment should be the limit. to go for 3 or more yrs. is more like feeding the habit.

  20. I fully understand people’s anger and frustration with these types of situations, but the reality is that just “LOCKING THEM UP” actually costs us more. HOPEFULLY, spending in other ways MAY bring them back into productive society. After expressing your anger, say a prayer of help for them and all involved…. it works.

  21. How much does it cost for all these people going to the methadone clinic that get rides provided by volunteer driver who get paid for transporting them to these clinics. Who foots that bill we do. Who pays for the methadone they get everyday and the longer they go the more they get who pays for that? I personally would rather pay for them to be locked up.

  22. I think “meth”, as in “meth lab” refers to methadrine, as in speed. Methadone is a substitute for heroin, given at clinics to help heroin addicts withdraw from heroin.

  23. Mainlining heroin and cooking meth in the house, what were they thinking? Cook that junk outside as meth labs have been known to exlode.

I agree with pathetic, gotta do what ya gotta do. I just wonder if people would complain as much were the cookers not “white trash?” What if they were pilars of the community? I bet the comments would read more like “I can’t believe that.” Or “They seemed like good upstanding citizens.” People would not be ready to condemn them like most are with these two people. Rich people eat off the county’s dime in jail too. I really find it detestable when people run poor people into the dirt. Rich people have addictions as well, it just is those drugs are prescribed rather than homemade. So don’t judge.

  24. Tracy so glad to hear the kids are with family. My Dau. used to babysit them they are 2 great kids. Please give them lots of Love.

  25. Thank you Mary and I will. They kids are getting set up with a new school, doctors, etc. I saw them yesterday and they are doing better than us. Drugs hurt everyone involved. I hate the drugs but love the addicts. People should understand its a huge problem and getting worst. I am involved in a couple groups which has helped me a lot to understand it a lot better. Is it right NO but it can happen to anyone anywhere. Locking them may not be the best answer. The choices of help out here at not the greatest. Augusta is one of the closest places to go. OK if no job, no money living in a very rural place how to you get there everyday??. Its always cost money for a lot of the help. Again no job, no money how do you do it. Don’t get me wrong the choice is theirs to start using. The choice to stop is theirs. With these drugs its not a oh I will just stop today. Its evil it drives them crazy. They will stop at nothing to get the next high. It turns them into people you don’t know anymore. But again it was their choice to try them. I love Danny and Tabby and I have never or will I ever give up on them. Reality is jail is where they need to be for themselves, children and family. We all have hard times but this is bring this family closer together. Mainely for the children but also for them. Please try not to judge people before you have walked in their shoes. Again their did make the choice to use. Again they both put my niece and nephew in danger. Again I am so thankful for the person who tipped off the police. The family could of going to a 4 person funeral .
