Outdoor Adventure Series kicks off in Rangeley

RANGELEY - On Monday, July 11, the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust kicked off its 2011 edition of the popular Outdoor Adventure Series with a GPS workshop conducted by Patty Cormier of the Maine Department of Conservation. This will be our fourth year of offering these educational and fun-filled events to members of the Trust.

During Monday’s hands-on workshop, participants learned how GPS units work and how to use them to navigate the landscape safely and efficiently. Ms. Cormier was a fabulous instructor and everyone had a great time. A surprise picnic lunch featuring hot dogs and homemade potato salad topped off a beautiful morning of fun and education at the EcoVenture Camp for Kids base camp on South Shore Drive.

The Outdoor Adventure Series has provided a great opportunity for Trust members to enjoy the region’s lands and waters while forging friendships with fellow members. Fees for the events range between $10 and $40 per person. For paddling events we provide a limited number of canoes and kayaks on a first come first served basis or participants are welcome to bring their own.
