FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue Regional School District school board spent the first few minutes of the Tuesday board meeting honoring the academic accomplishments of students from the high school and Foster Technology Center program.

The board traditionally hosts a small reception for the top students and their family members sometime before graduation. The top students are selected according to academic ranking, and share with the school board their plans after high school. Top students from the Foster Career and Technical Education Center are also recognized.

After countless policy meetings and budget deliberations, Foster Technology Director Glenn Kapiloff noted, celebrating the success of district students “makes it all worth-while.” The students provided a “shining example” and “hope for the future,” the director said.

Students recognized by the board Tuesday evening included:

Miriam Cohen of Farmington, who will be attending Yale and studying history and education.

Nicole Pires of Farmington, who will be attending the University of Vermont and studying pre-law, English, biology and woman’s gender studies.

Roshan Luick of New Sharon, who will be attending the College of the Atlantic and studying music and biology.

  1. I will be showing my middle schooler this as I think you are all great examples of what is possible as a student at Mt. Blue. Congratulations and best wishes! (And thank you to all of the teachers who helped you in your journey.)

  2. Fleecy-man, Glassy, Mimi, MIT-ch, Shan-shan and fellow top students, you’re not afraid to be awesome!

  3. From Mallett to Cascade Brook, Mt. Blue Middle School and Mt. Blue High School, many wonderful teachers/mentors and school staff have touched the lives of our students. We are so grateful for their dedication, expertise and caring and we hope that they will continue to inspire and guide our young people to find their way in the world.

As Steve (and Debbie) Miuse would say, “Don’t be afraid to be awesome.”

  4. Let’s not forget the teachers, mentors and staff of Cushing and Academy Hill schools who also inspired some of these awesome young people!
My congratulations to all graduating seniors!
