On Nov. 27, a Subaru Legacy collided with a Peterbilt tractor trailer truck in Kingfield.

KINGFIELD – The driver of a Subaru Legacy that collided with a tractor trailer truck on Nov. 27 has died, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Monday. A passenger of that vehicle died at the scene of the crash, which is still being investigated.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols, Leroy Gordon, 76 of Farmington, died Friday evening. His death was a result of the Nov. 27 crash that also claimed the life of Seth Gordon, 28 of Farmington.

On Nov. 27, dispatchers received a report of the two-vehicle crash at approximately 3:33 p.m. A red 1997 Subaru Legacy had been traveling south on Route 27 when it lost traction on the road and skidded sideways into the path of a red 1994 Peterbilt traveling north with an empty trailer.

According to witnesses, neither vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed. Road conditions were poor due to a day-long storm.

Seth Gordon, a passenger in the Subaru, was killed at the scene. Both Leroy Gordon and a second passenger, Scott Kidder, 18 of Farmington, were transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital and later to Central Maine Medical Center, where they were listed in critical condition. The operator of the Peterbilt, Cedrick Allaire, 25 of Westbury, Quebec, was not injured in the crash.

FCSO is continuing to investigate the crash. Deputy Brian McCormick is the primary investigator.

  1. In this case it sounds like bad roads caused this tragedy.
    Horrible accident.

Lets remember what can happen next time there is a bad storm.
Often,, people refuse to slow down, greatly adding to the danger involved.

When the roads are like this,,
    Stay off them,. (Best Option).
    Or
Slow down to a speed that is safe. (No matter how slow that is).
Knowing that you will have idiots riding your backside…
Pull over when it’s safe to do so and let them go by. (That way you can call for help when they crash).

4 wheel drive DOES NOT help you stop any quicker..btw.

  2. Dear Remember,
Please remember this is a tragedy, a true accident with no one at fault. Lecturing doesn’t help anyone, especially the families. Perhaps you should stable that high horse and be a little more considerate before pounding out your “advice” on a keyboard.
My deepest sympathies to families for their losses.
