Several local businesses pitching in to help Double B Equine Rescue

A horse at the Double B Equine Rescue last fall. Hay help is urgently needed at the rescue center.

INDUSTRY - Double B Equine Rescue, owned by Brenda and Linwood Green, needs help. According to Brenda Green, much of the rescue’s hay money was spent on vet bills this year.

To help, several local businesses are doing what they can to help out by hosting a Ladies' Night Out fundraiser on Wednesday, July 18 to be held at Robin’s Flower Pot, Greenhouses and Landscape Nursery on Webster Road in Farmington.

“This fundraiser couldn’t have come at a better time,” Brenda Green said tearfully. “Although some hay has been donated and coming soon, the barn is currently empty. We lost three of our older horses this year and two needed surgery. We have four more horses coming in next week. That brings us to 20 horses.”

Double B Equine Rescue rescues horses who were state- and town-seized, surrendered, neglected, physically abused and abandoned by previous owners. Once rehabilitated, the horses are available for adoption.

Robin’s Flower Pot is the site  of the benefit Ladies’ Night Out, from  5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18. Donate $20 to Double B at the door and enjoy three hours of entertainment and refreshments.

There will be line dance instruction with Louie Moniz, Jr. at 6 p.m., Middle Eastern dance with Anabee Beal, chocolate from The Chocolate Shoppe's chocolate fountain, a wine tasting with the folks from Ron’s Market, gelato tasting with Wicked Gelato, or pamper yourself with a massage by Conscious Kneads Body Work and Massage, a tarot reading, a massage or skin care instruction from End of the Rainbow, a health screening and in body test with the Body Analyzer from the Healthy Community Coalition, a Perfectly Polished manicure, a Mary Kay sampling, or learn about essential oils with Christine Poulson. More fun can be had posing with your friends in the photo booth brought by Sweet Zinnias Photography.

Twenty percent of purchases that night from Robin’s Flower pot will go to Double B Equine Rescue, and raffles will be held for items such as a $50 gift certificate to Robin’s Flower Pot or a gift bag from Kitty Witch Perfumery.

Brenda Green will be there with information about her horses and will have T-shirts and other items for sale.
This event will be held rain or shine. For more details visit: http://www.mainehorserescue.com or http://robinsflowerpot.com

  4. The community will come together and see the horses have enough hay, you are providing a great service and it takes special people to be able to do this. I wish all people were screened to own an animal with a background check and interviews but we are over spending saving the ones that are abused very heart wrenching

  5. Yes, it is at Robin's, 387 Webster Rd., Farmington
