WELD – A 16-year-old driver received injuries described as “non-life threatening” by police after her vehicle went off the road and rolled over Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff’s Cpl. Nate Bean said Ashley Hutchinson, “lost control of her vehicle on Route 142 (in) Weld by the Carthage town line when she became distracted trying to change the radio station.”

The 2005 Lincoln LS sedan, registered to her father of Carthage, was headed towards that town from Weld when it went off the road, “broke a utility pole, rolled over and then broke a tree which landed on the vehicle,” Bean said.

Emergency crews were called at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. There were no passengers in the sedan. Hutchinson received cuts and bruises and was checked out at the scene by a Northstar ambulance crew.

  1. Thank goodness she’s okay and no one else was injured. Be careful out there, folks: pay attention; don’t get distracted.
