JAY – A third individual has been arrested in connection with the home invasion robbery that occurred on the night of June 28 at a Farrington Road residence.

Amanda Cote, 38 of Livermore Falls, was arrested Friday without incident by Detective Michael Mejia of the Jay Police Department. Cote has been charged with burglary, robbery and hindering apprehension. She is expected to appear in court today.

Cote is accused of assisting Eric Hafford, 34, also of Livermore Falls, and Daniel Leet, 33 of Lewiston, in the June 28 home invasion at a Farrington Road residence. Both men are accused of tying up a homeowner with tape while they stole a large portion of a coin collection, his wallet and cell phone before making their getaway in a vehicle that police say was operated by Cote.

According to police, the homeowner said he had been awakened by two individuals standing in his bedroom after they had forced entry into his home. The homeowner’s hands were tied behind his back with packaging tape and he was made to lay face down on the bed. One of the suspects, Mejia said, told the homeowner that he was in possession of a gun.

Two people wearing masks were seen on a surveillance camera set up in the residence. Those men are believed to be Hafford, arrested on July 17, and Leet, arrested on July 20. Both men have been held at the Franklin County Detention Center on $50,000 and $25,000 cash bail, respectively.

Monday, Mejia said that while police were not currently seeking additional suspects in the home invasion, the investigation into the incident was ongoing.

  1. Way to go !!! Like I said earlier, you should have just turned yourself in, you where going to get caught in the end anyway. Great job done by all involved. Hoping they all do some time and not just a slap on the wrist.

  2. Unlike most mug shots you can see the remorse in this girl’s eyes. It is so sad she let herself get involved with jerks like this. I think we should show some compassion with this one. Even the most righteous among us have made some bad choices.

  3. And to the editor, you block many of my posts yet you print ‘chop their arms off’! Think about that….

She is a grown woman! She knew exactly what she was doing and what she was doing was WRONG. Show compassion? Hope she pays for her bad choices!

  5. Some woman are affraid and do whatever their boyfriend/husband wants because they are in that abusive situation. They feel like they have to, like theres no way out. Sometimes, well most times, drugs are a big part too. People do dumb things and shoyld have consequences for their actions but also our country should have more programs for after or instead of jail for those who do need substance abuse or domestic abuse help. They wont get better just serving a sentance. They need the help with the problems that got them to that point in which they commit crimes. My point is yes they do the crime so they should be punished for it but also counciling and other programs are needed to stop it from continuing.
