3 mins read

WILTON – The Western Maine Play Museum is still fundraising and looking towards beginning renovations later this summer and fall, in advance of next year’s planned opening. However, the museum is planning an active schedule for the summer season, with events running through the Wilton Blueberry Festival on Aug. 7 and 8.

Friday, Aug. 7 will feature the museum’s third summer movie, which will start at 8 p.m. on the museum grounds. Previous films were Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Princess Bride. The feature on Friday, Aug. 7 will be The Lego Movie. Price is $4/individual, $10/family, and tickets may be purchased at the museum before the movie. Snacks, beverages, and day-glo fun jewelry will be available for purchase, and bathroom facilities are on site. Organic insect repellent will be applied again at this showing, keeping bugs to a minimum. In case of rain, the movie will be rescheduled for Sunday night, Aug. 9, so that everyone can attend the fireworks at the foot of Wilson Lake on Saturday night.

The final movie in the summer series, Finding Nemo, will be shown on Friday, Sept. 4. Parents are reminded that children must be accompanied by an adult. The WMPM is located at 561 Main Street in Wilton, next to the Franklin Savings Bank and across from the Methodist Church.

The Western Maine Play Museum will be entering a float in the annual Blueberry Festival Parade, sponsored by the Franklin Savings Bank. The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7.

The Western Maine Play Museum is sponsoring a new event on Saturday, Aug. 8,. The museum will feature G Force Laser Tag, from Caribou, at the museum site from 10-6 p.m. on Saturday. Pricing as follows: $3/game, $10/4 games, and $20/all day. Admission to the laser tag event will be age adjusted, so that children of similar ages will be able to play at the same time. Face painting will also be in front of the museum, for $5/full face, $3/half-face. For younger children the museum will have free carnival-type games and activities available, also in front of the museum.

  1. The Parade is always on Saturday of the Blueberry Fest weekend…not Friday.
Please check the Wilton Blueberry Festival schedule available at Wilton
    Town office or Library.

  2. Whoops, my apologies – I must have misread the schedule. Thank you for the correction on the parade date, Nancy.
