WILTON – The Wilton Free Public Library is excited to introduce Jen Scott as the new library director.

With a love of books and library service, Scott is a welcome addition to the staff. Her sense of humor, ability to talk with people, and firm belief in the power of kindness make her a perfect fit.

Scott grew up in Farmington and graduated from Northeastern University. She has worked at several area libraries and brings a wealth of experience to her new position.

“Librarianship never crossed my mind as a career path,” Scott said. “Until I fell into it. I’m now hooked, I solidly know that library service is where I belong, and I can’t imagine thriving in another career.”

Scott said that she has many exciting visions for the library and is looking forward to working with the staff to implement them. She truly cares about the library and the people it serves and will be a wonderful addition to the Wilton community.

Scott will be replacing retiring Director David L. Olson. He joined the library as interim director in 2006 and was hired as director in July of 2006. As director, Olson was responsible for overseeing such activities as the building renovation project, several fund drives, ambitious programs, the book sale facility, the energy conservation project, and most recently starting the patio project.

The Wilton Free Public Library Association was incorporated in 1901 and the Goodspeed Memorial Library Building was built in 1915. The library is generously supported by the community and has served citizens of Wilton for over 100 years. As a family place library, Wilton welcomes people of all ages to come and spend time at the library reading, using the wifi, and playing as well as the many programs they offer throughout the year.
