A mixed group of water birds was hanging on as long as possible in Parker Pond late last week. I heard one loon call, the remainder look like common mergansers, although they were so far out this was the best capture I could get. (Jane Naliboff/Chesterville)
A real Mainer will not be deterred by subfreezing temperatures when fish are involved and ice has yet to form on Echo Lake. (Jane Naliboff/Chesterville)

Before the latest storms at our farm on Cape Cod Hill in New Sharon, my wife Juniper looked out at the front field and saw about three dozen turkeys. I quietly went out on the porch to take this photo. I came back. Within a few seconds after shutting the door all the turkeys were quickly gone. We did not see in which direction they went. 2. Thank you, one and all for the beauteous pictures!
They are such a calming and happy event each Sunday.
Jim Knox, I think you might want to check again as I think the “common redpoll” is actually a tree sparrow, but the photo is delightful! As are all those you share on The Bulldog!

  3. I want to thank everyone who gave me a 2nd look at my Common Redpoll. It is a Tree sparrow. I’m sure a Common redpoll wouldn’t want to be out in this cold weather. On the other hand that Eagle?? Didn’t seem to bother him at all.

  4. Love all these pictures thanks for spending the time for all of us to enjoy…Merry Christmas and looking forward to your Photo’s in 2017…
