Celebrate the harvest with Maine Mountain Children’s House

KINGFIELD – Our Montessori preschool Maine Mountain Children’s House is hosting its third annual Harvest Festival on Oct. 1 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mountain Village Farm.

The community gathering will feature live music from Bread & Circus, horse-drawn wagon rides, sack races, mural painting, apple cider pressing, Maine brews, local food trucks, a photo contest, and fantastic raffle prizes all in a spectacular setting with expansive grass fields, a 1827 post and beam barn and views of Sugarloaf area mountains.

Embracing our agricultural heritage, Maine Mountain Children’s House fosters a close relationship between local growers and the school. “As with our community gardens, Harvest Festival brings together students, families and farmers to celebrate our beautiful home with dancing instead of planting,” said Director Bethany Mahar.

Nestled next to the Carrabassett River, with ancient maples abound, Oct. 1 is the perfect time to take a scenic drive to the charming hamlet of Kingfield. Visitors can spend the night at Mountain Village Farm’s Bed & Breakfast, the Herbert Hotel, Three Stanley Avenue Bed & Breakfast, or The Inn on Winter’s Hill. And be a part of a community that revels in the bountiful Maine harvest.

Tickets are available at http://mainemountainfestival.com (kids under 17 are free!)
