FARMINGTON – The Civil Rights Team at Cascade Brook School conducted a Pennies for Patients coin drive, raising more than $1,000 for cancer research.

In one month’s time, $1,044 was raised, going toward the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for research and to assist child cancer patients.

The Civil Rights Team also got to learn about nationalities from Japanese exchange student, Erina Akatsu. She presented a thorough slideshow about her country, her daily life, pop culture in Japan, food there and many more concepts. The team loved her enthusiasm and her willingness to share her culture.
