JAY – On Friday, four members of the Franklin County Retired Educators delivered 10 boxes of school supplies to Spruce Mountain Elementary School. It was the group’s contribution to the 2016 Day of Caring to give something to Franklin County towns. Past Days of Caring have served local libraries, children’s events, and weatherization projects.

Retired educators contributed funds with which member Joanne Dunlap made the purchases. Supplies included markers, white boards, crayons, and others items used in elementary classrooms. Some members also committed to volunteering in local schools at the request of practicing teachers.

Other members helping with the delivery were Craigen Healey, Karen Mitchell, and Arline Amos. Receiving the contribution on behalf of the staff were guidance counselor Jenn Stone, fourth-grade teacher Debra Timberlake, third-grade teacher Carrie Mitchell and principal Chris Hollingsworth.

  1. What a great thing to do! As retired educators, we know how much teachers spend out of their own pocket to educate their class. Thank you for contributing to Spruce Mountain Elementary School.
