FARMINGTON – After a long, bitterly cold and snowy winter, the Democrats of Franklin County are stirring….

Preparations are underway for their traditional–has it really been 43 years?–St. Patrick’s Day Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 14, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This year, in keeping with a rotational schedule with the Democratic Committees in Wilton and Jay, the breakfast will be held at the Fairbanks School on the Fairbanks Road, Farmington.

“The breakfast, is a meeting ground for Democrats near and far to gather,” said Yvette Robinson, Committee Chair for Farmington.

Kicking off the election season will be Phil Bartlett, Chairman of the Maine Democratic Party.

“It’s a great opportunity for those who are planning to run for state office to introduce themselves to the voters in Franklin County,” said Robinson.

Over the years, the breakfast has hosted nearly every Democrat running for Governor, US Senate and Representatives as well as State and Local offices. “Who knows, you might even meet the next Governor of Maine at this year’s breakfast,” said Robinson.

In keeping with a “recent tradition” to “buy local,” the Democrats will be serving up locally produced blueberry sauce and maple syrup to accompany sausages and towers of pancakes made with local milk and butter.

Open to the public. Cost of breakfast: $3/children (under the age of 10); $6/adult; $15/family. For further information, contact Yvette Robinson at 778-5228
