FARMINGTON – The Downeast Brass band will be blowing its horns to help youngsters discover the healthy fun of skiing and boarding at Titcomb Mountain. The band will perform Sunday, July 26, at the Lincoln Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington. The show begins at 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit children’s Learn to Ski and Board Scholarships at the Farmington slope.

“We are excited to be able to bolster our programs for budding new skiers and boarders while enjoying great music,” said Kathy Yardley, president of the Titcomb Ski Club Educational Foundation. “We are so fortunate to have a foundation and community that are committed to providing all children with the opportunity to learn to ski and board.”

The Downeast Brass is well known in New England, having performed at events ranging from weddings and festivals to parades. They have performed at private parties at the Blaine House in Augusta, Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, the Moxie Parade and at Gov. Baldacci’s inauguration ceremony, among others.

Founder Dwight Tibbetts arranges the music to accentuate the unique talents of his colleagues. From Andy Forster’s pristine high trumpet tones to Mark Mumme’s full bass sonority, the Downeast Brass showcases the skills of these premier Maine musicians.
Since band members are also music educators, they strive to reach audiences of all ages with original and entertaining programming.

Tickets are available at the door at Lincoln Auditorium and the Calico Patch in Farmington. Ticket pricing is $15 for adults, $8 for students and children under 10 are free. All are welcome. For more information, please contact Dick Forster 491-8385 or 778-2621.
