FAIRBANKS – Need a place for a wedding reception? A meeting? Ever heard about the FAIRBANKS School Meeting House? It could be the place you want to go.

The Fairbanks School was built in 1896 as a two room school house. It served the community as a school house for nearly seventy years. In the 1990’s it house a business, MTE,Inc. Unfortunately fire struck and destroyed the building. In 2000 a group of dedicated citizens, including some that actually went to school there, organized to bring the school back to life. Fairbanks School neighborhood Association, Inc. (FSNA) was formed. This group of citizens raised funds and began to build the school back to the building we see today. Through loans, grants and a capital campaign FSNA raised in excess of $406,000 to complete this work!

The building “rose” from the ashes now features design elements from the old school. It allowed for the expansion of the food closet for the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministries. A beautiful function room with a kitchen for community use was included. The building is handicapped accessible.

The Association continues to fund raise to make the building sustainable. They are working on a potential commercial “shared” kitchen. They hope to build an archive/memorabilia area for artifacts from Fairbanks. They want to pave the parking lot and build a storage shed. Most importantly the FSNA wants to partner with other agencies and businesses to provide a location for training and education.
