Franklin County Wellness Fair May 7

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and Franklin Savings Bank are teaming up to promote and enhance the health and wellness of the community with the first Franklin County Wellness Fair. The free wellness fair will take place on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North Dining Hall at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The wellness fair will showcase local wellness related businesses and give the community a chance to receive information and tools that help support a healthy lifestyle.

Highlights include workshops and demonstrations throughout the day that help with cultivating a healthy lifestyle. Scheduled events include: Healthy Community Coalition cooking demonstration at 9:30 am, Mindfulness workshop at 10:30 am, UMF Fitness teaching how to exercise without equipment at 11:30 am, and End of Rainbow Alternatives Essential an Essential Oils presentation at 12:30 pm. Yoga demonstrations will take place throughout the day.

”This is a great way to learn about all the different health and wellness opportunities we have right here in Franklin County.” said Jodi Cordes, wellness fair committee chair. The wellness information continues outside with the Elks Drug Awareness trailer and Healthy Community Coalition mobile units. The Healthy Community Coalition will have their body analyzer. With a body analysis you can discover your body composition, obesity analysis, body type, extracellular and intracellular water and segmental lean analysis.

Plan to visit the wellness fair vendors, demonstrations and workshops. Enjoy a free bottle of Poland Spring water. Enter to win some great door prizes. Then take a walk over to the Fiddlehead Festival taking place also on the UMF campus May 7.
