Fundraiser to support 4-H Horse Show trip

FARMINGTON - Giddy-Up & Go 4-H Horse Club will be holding a fundraiser Sunday, Aug. 12 to support one of the Club members who will be going to Eastern States 4-H Horse Show as part of the Maine Equine Team. The fundraiser, a food sale, will be held in conjunction with Aubuchon Hardware’s Farm Swap Day on the Wilton Road in Farmington.

This is the first time that Giddy-Up & Go has a member going to Eastern States in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The Club is only six years old and up until now few members have been old enough to try out for the team.

The member who now has a place on the Maine 4-H Equine Team is Aiden Shankland, one of the founding members of the Club. She and her horse, Country Shamrock, have competed in local 4-H Horse Shows since 1997. They will be showing in the Western Pleasure classes in Massachusetts.

From 9:00 to 1:00 on Sunday, the Club will be selling baked goods made by the members and their families, as well as steamed hotdogs during Aubuchon’s second monthly Farm Swap. Cold bottled water, donated by Farmington Coca-Cola Company, will be available for a donation. There will also be jams and jellies and perhaps some fresh blackberries.

Aubuchon’s is providing the steamer for the Club to use and has donated $50 toward the cost of the hot dogs, buns and condiments. All the proceeds from the sales will help defray the expenses of the trip to Eastern States Exposition in September.

For more information about the sale or about Giddy-Up & Go, please call Janine Winn, the Club leader, at 778-3856.
