FARMINGTON – The Homestead Bar and Bakery in downtown Farmington announced it will sponsor a special pre-dance dinner in connection with Heat Dance, the fundraising event for heating assistance in Franklin County.

Attendance to the event is with a special “gold plated” ticket, on sale at the restaurant entitling the holder to a glass of champagne and a limousine ride from the restaurant to the dance at the University of Maine’s North Dining Hall. Tickets are $20, and include admission to the dance. Dinner is not included.

The restaurant will be decorated in Hollywood style and will feature movie star attired waitresses and waiters and themed drinks and entrees.

Now in its fourth year, Heat Dance has become the most successful fundraising event in Franklin County. Last year it raised over $21,000 to assist families and individuals keep their homes warm. The funds raised are administered through ECU Heat, a consortium of local churches, and Western Maine Community Action. So far this year over 250 households have requested assistance.

The Heat Dance event will take place on Friday night, Feb. 6 at the University of Maine North Dining Hall, starting at 7 p.m. and featuring the popular local dance band Shepherd’s Pie. Babysitting is available at $5 per child. There will be two cash bars.

Regular admission tickets are available for $10 at the Homestead, Devaney, Doak and Garrett booksellers and Calico Patch.
