Jay girl receives guitar gift from noted singer

AUGUSTA – On Sunday, Sara Barker, 11, of Jay, joined singer Debbie Myers and a host of other accomplished entertainers at the Maine State Armory for the 5th annual benefit to raise money for Maine’s homeless veterans.

Barker helped open the show, waving American flags from the back of a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Myers. Then Barker performed a duet with Myers and two solos before being surprised by Myers with the gift of her personal guitar.

  1. If you ever have an opportunity to see and hear Debbie Myers sing, GO. If you like country music you will love Debbie. I wish I was able to attend the recent fundraiser for our homeless vets, but do to illness was unable to do so. Thank you Deb for all you do, along with all the other entertainers.

  2. Sara Barker was one of the musicians at the Farmington Summerfest this past July. She was a great addition to the lineup of artists in our Street Musician format and it’s great to see her recognized in this way. She deserves it! Keep it up Sara!
