FARMINGTON – LEAP hosted a luncheon to celebrate several Direct Support Professionals who were nominated for American Network of Community Options and Resources’ 2013 DSP of the Year Contest.

ANCOR is a national organization that advocates for community supports, versus institutional supports, for citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Earlier in the year, managers were asked if they had a DSP who went above and beyond to help the people supported by LEAP, the organization and its mission. Although LEAP employs many DSPs who fit this description, the following candidates were nominated for their specific contributions to the agency – Sarah Ellis, Debbie Howard, Carrie Gilbert, Karen Clary and Jacqueline Donald.

Ellis, who was nominated by Administrator Kristi Iverson, has been with the organization since June 2008 and was recognized for her leadership, creativity, mentoring and commitment to wellness in the workplace.

Howard, nominated by Administrator Jessica Flannery and House Manager Kimberly Levensalor, came to LEAP in November 2007 and brings a calm, positive presence along with her clinical skills and knowledge.

Gilbert, nominated by Administrator Matthew Levensalor, has been in her current role since April 2012 but came to the organization in May 2000. She is positive, enthusiastic, dedicated, and appreciated by her team.

Clary, nominated by Administrator Matthew Levensalor, was recognized as the veteran of this group of nominees and came to LEAP in June 1994. Her leadership, mentoring and kindness have been shared with many groups over the years.

Donald, nominated by Administrator Cinder Savage and Program Support II Katrina Fay, came to LEAP in November 2000 and humbly shares her calm demeanor, dedication, patience and professionalism every day. Donald was chosen to represent LEAP in this national contest and received ANCOR’s Honorable Mention for this honor.

ANCOR, like LEAP, realizes that quality supports only happen when Direct Support Professionals are working in a dedicated, mindful and innovative manner.
