HARRISONBURG, Virgina – Shepard and Doreen Swain proudly announce the commencement of their son, Matthew Swain, who was awarded a doctorate in Assessment and Measurement from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia on May 7, 2015.

Matthew Swain previously earned his master’s degree from James Madison University in 2012 and a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in 2010 graduating summa cum laude He is a graduate of Mt Blue High School class of 2006 in Farmington.

Swain has excelled throughout his higher education including developing and implementing an intake assessment process for Liberty University as well as co-authoring assessment work in the Transfer Student Orientation program at James Madison University that was subsequently awarded the highest distinction of all submissions.

Swain’s dissertation is titled, “The Effects of a Planned Missingness Design on Examinee Motivation and Psychometric Quality.” He has accepted a Research Scientist position at the Human Resources Research Organization in Alexandria, Virginia.
