FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue Middle School’s IMPACT group (a middle school branch of Rotary) recently participated in a Read-a-Thon in order to support our local Franklin County Animal Shelter.

IMPACT’s motto is “service before self,” and the intention is for the group to think and act altruistically. This year members chose the animal shelter as their local recipient.

Students collected pledge money after reading in the Mt. Blue Middle School library from noon until 5 p.m. They were encouraged to gather as many sponsors as possible in order to present a nice donation for the animal shelter. With some 14 students participating, the group was able to make out and present an $804 check to Erin Miner, who represented the shelter along with her beautiful German shepherd dog.

The Franklin County Animal Shelter gladly accepts donations of cash, pet food, litter and toys for its many animals.

  1. It is great to see an active group of teens doing good things for others. Great job kids!

  2. Bless these young people, the world is richer for having them here. Their parents should be both commended and thanked for teaching their kids well.
