JAY – Ten new members of the National Honor Society were inducted Tuesday, Nov. 18 in Spruce Mountain High School library.
Emilly LaFleur, NHS president, led the students in the ceremony celebrating the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Character and Leadership.
“It is the National Honors Society’s goal to improve our school and community to the best of our abilities. The students seated before you have been selected because they epitomize each aspect of what the National Honor Society represents. They have been chosen because their goals and aspirations reflect those of leaders, those of strong character, and those who put service to others at the top of their list,” LaFleur said.
The evening’s keynote speaker was state Rep. Paul Gilbert of Jay. He shared with students the strengths of the combined Spruce Mountain High School, and the importance of scholarship when preparing oneself for life.
New students inducted were: Denton Bilodeau, William Brenner, Devon Darling, Trevor Doiron, Austin Gilboe, Emily Hartford, Tad Jewett, Liesel Krout, Grace Ryan and Patricia Ryan.
Congratulations to all, I’m sure it’s all well deserved. Keep up the GOOD WORK. God Bless all of you.
