PHILLIPS – The Phillips Public Library will be hosting its first-ever old book and art sale on Sept. 18 and 19.

The collection of available books consists of a wide variety of vintage and rare works that have been recently donated. These include old nonfiction, fiction, children’s books and book sets. Non-fiction books include an 1883 edition of New England Bird Life. Fiction books include well-known authors such as Washington Irving and Mark Twain and some who are lesser known such as Madelene Wynne, an early American writer. Book sets include a 55-volume household edition of Charles Dickens. The children’s books include a beautiful Pinnochio Pop-Up Book and hard-to-find A.A. Milne stories of Winnie-the-Pooh.

Local well-known Phillips artists have stepped up to contribute to the sale with some exciting works. The Phillips area is fortunate to be home to incredible artists and included are: David Crowley, Nelda Warkentin, Saskia Reinholt and others.

The book and art sale is a fundraiser for the library. Book sales take place on Friday, Sept. 18 from 12-4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Anyone may preview available books from 10 a.m.-12 on Friday, Sept. 19 by paying a $10 entrance fee.
