WILTON – The Tyngtown Tee Time was held on Aug. 23 at the Wilson Lake Country Club in Wilton. This was the fifth year of the fundraiser for the Tyngtown Club of Wilton.

The fundraiser was for the benefit of the Wilton Free Public Library, Wilton Early Childhood Center, downtown flowers children’s programs and scholarships.

Golfers and picnic attendees enjoyed a beautiful day. After a breakfast of donuts, scones and apples the scrambles event kicked off with a bagpiper send-off by Aiden Underwood.

The winners were:

  • Lowest Gross: John Cureton, Nancy Stowell, Linda and John Wentzell
  • Lowest Net: Pete Chamberlain, Lewi Chamberlain, Bruce Ibarguen, Dave Haeger
  • Closest to pin: Lewi Chamberlain
  • Longest Drive Men: John Cureton
  • Longest Drive Ladies: Linda Wentzell
  • Putting Contest: Pete Benson

Raffles and putting contests were ongoing throughout the morning. A delicious lunch was served by the Tyngtown ladies under the tents that the Boy Scouts and husbands had helped to set up. The Rogers brothers, Silas and Nolan, once again delighted the guests with string music sponsored by Nancy Cureton.

Corporate sponsors for the event were Upright Frameworks, Wilson Lake Inn, Hammonds Lumber, ABT Plumbing, Kyes Agency, Franklin Savings Bank, Barclays, and Franklin Chrysler and Jeep. Prizes were donated by Cazolaios, Ray Rays and members. Raffles were donated by John Cureton, Peggy Hodgkins, Barbara Strong, Dick Austin, Kelly Weigle, Tyngtown and MikeVella.

The teamwork of the TTT committee consisted of Zetta Wojcik, Trish Flint, Kelly Weigle Karen Lawson, Sarah Chamberlain ,Robin Bragg, Wendy Pomeroy, Chris Cox, Nancy Cureton , Joan Haeger and Paulette Cahn.

There were many hands behind the scenes in the cooking, setting up and taking down. The Wilson Lake Country Club’s general manager Ben Taylor did an excellent job of assisting with this event. Mike and Joan Vella had the course in beautiful shape.
