WMPM logo as jpegWILTON – Even though Western Maine Play Museum is not yet opened, museum board members have planned a variety of exciting and entertaining events this summer for the community’s enjoyment.

Western Maine Play Museum’s summer movie series begins on Friday, June 12, where children and their parents can watch a series of fun family movies under the stars. The museum will feature different movies once a month throughout the summer and into September.

The first show, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, will begin at 8:30 on June 12 (rain date June 13) outside in the backyard of the museum. Admission is by pre-sold tickets only, which may be purchased at the Wilton Free Public Library for $4 per single person, $10 per family. Families are advised to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating for watching the movie, and jammies are certainly allowed! Concessions and museum merchandise will be available for purchase, and toilet facilities will be provided. Please note that this is a family event – children must be accompanied by an adult. The WMPM is located at 561 Main Street in Wilton, next to the Franklin Savings Bank and across from the Methodist Church.

Other movies scheduled for the summer:
Friday July 10 (rain date July 11) – The Princess Bride, 8:30 pm
Friday August 7 (rain date Sunday August 9) – The Lego Movie, 8:00 pm
Friday September 4 (rain date September 5) – Finding Nemo, 7:15 pm

During the Blueberry Festival the museum will feature G Force Laser Tag, from Presque Isle, at the museum site throughout the day on Saturday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.. There will also be facepainting and other festival activities suitable for younger children. More details to come soon.
